After the launch of the new NBC App, NBC Entertainment announced that they would make all content on this service available to NBCUniversal employees. At my time at NBC, I was tasked to create the tutorial video that walks employees through obtaining access to the NBC app using their employee credentials. This was an interal project that I worked collaboratively with various departments to execute. The challenge to producing this video was making clear steps and visualizations that make this process seem as simple as possible. This began with conducting a competitive analysis on tutorial videos that other digital products have created, such as Spotify, Apple, Asana, and Roku. See my key takeaways below:

Once I gained an understanding of visual clarity and timing, I worked with the Product team to refine the necessary steps to successfully log-in with the employee credentials. I simultaneously collaborated with another designer to determine the visual aesthetic of the video, which incorporated the NBC app color schemes and simplistic text and iconography. I then storyboarded the flow of the tutorial video, outlining how I will use movement to visualize the process. Once the storyboard was approved, I gathered all necessary screen-recordings on the various platforms and built two tutorial videos with After Effects (for mobile and TV). It took multiple iterations to polish the pacing of both the copy and UI movement so that it flowed comprehensibly for the audience. These videos were then sent out to NBCUniversal employees via email. Through this process, I learned how to own a design problem that required internal collaboration along every step of the way, as well as exerise empathy in video tutorial creation.
